Solomonic Wisdom
Now, it is held that the jurisdiction of the queen of Sheba’s kingdom may have been around Ethiopia and Yemen.

This Queen comes all the way to Israel, to listen to King Solomon’s wisdom.

And she goes on to exclaim in bewilderment: “Happy are your men, happy these servants of yours, who stand before you always and listen to your wisdom.” (1 Kings 10:8)

King Solomon’s wisdom comes from the Lord: One, because he prayed to God for it, and second, because he was always striving to please God, to follow His edicts.

And significantly, God chose, not just to dwell in the structure that this king had built for Him, but in his spirit!

So much such that whatever came out of this kings mouth was pure Heavenly inspired wisdom that would attract even the non-believers!

In today’s Gospel, Christ tells us that what we eat is not as important as what emanates from within us, from our hearts.

“From within people, from their hearts, come evil thoughts, unchastity, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, licentiousness, envy, blasphemy, arrogance, folly. All these evils come from within and they defile." (Mark 7: 21 – 23)

So, let us strive to seek the Lord (like the queen of Sheba who seeks Solomon’s wisdom). Let us even go beyond the seeking; let us have Him dwell within our hearts; so that He may inspire us to be just; and so that as we murmur, that we may murmur nothing else but wisdom!
