Christ: The light that illuminates our way to God the Father

Monday – 2nd April, 2012
Monday of the Holy Week
Liturgical Year B, Cycle II
Readings for Mass
First Reading: Isaiah 42: 1-7
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 27: 1-3, 13-14
Gospel: John 12: 1-11

Christ has all the Heavenly powers to avoid the imminent death on the cross. That is beyond doubt. But as the first reading of the day has it; He opts to go through His passion without raising a finger.

He subjects His Heavenly powers to the human whipping, and scrounging, and ridicule and ultimate nailing on the cross, besides two criminals.

But in so doing, He becomes the Light that would for ever illuminate our way to God the Father!
